    Funny is I've never used one of those. French Presses all day every day. I've also cooked it in a kettle and strained it, and I've made Norwegian Egg coffee, I've even used one of those electric drip machines (because I'm an american and I don't want to be deported.)

    I am super confused as to how people are hearing this as:
    "you've probably never heard of this, but it's called a moka pot."
    everyone in 'your country' has one. that is the point. now you don't have to say it anymore. this video is about how to use one differently than you may have before, not pointing out that this device is unique.

    The part where they pour hot water from the kettle, I've found an easier way, without a kettle. Just put cold water into the moka and just leave it on the stove without the lid on until it boils. Construct the moka: put the coffee and the lid on, and put it back on the stove! Easy

    – 3 *don't press it if you are not able
    – 10 never use soap to wash the moka. Never. If you buy a new moka, make a coffee, throw it, and make another one. Wash it with water and elbow grease.
    – 11 you DO the right amount of pression in the mountain of powder. The right amount is between a burned coffee and a trasparent one. The one in this video is transparent. It's good just in northern Italy (or ex Austria, call it what you want).

    See, now 20 years with mine have taught me;

    1. NEVER clean it- just swish clean water around to clear away the grounds and loose scale
    2. Don't screw around- buy the 24 oz. model and have a full pot each morning
    3. Good coffee is a nice treat- I prefer really fruity East African/Central American blends- BUT, where these little
    beauties really shine is in their ability to make cheap, crappy coffee drinkable. Here's how I do it…

    Day 1; Full rinse and swish, add water and fill the basket 1/3 full- cook it and drink.
    Day 2; Rinse the top and bottom, leave the old grounds in and fill the basket to 2/3- cook and drink.
    Day 3; Ditto. Fill the basket to the top- cook and drink.
    Day 4; Bonus day! Rinse the top and bottom, just use the old grounds in the now full basket and enjoy 24oz. of
    church basement quality imitation drip swill just for the memories.

    I'm sure you hard core afficionados will scoff, but I get three days of pretty fair brew, plus one day of memory inducing bemusement for less than half the grounds a drip pot uses, all while utilizing bargain brands (Maxwell House, Folgers) that would be vomit inducing if used as drip coffee- and here's the kicker….

    That's just what they were invented for Charlie Brown- helping poor Italians stretch out their supplies of crappy coffee and make them drinkable! 😀

    Now leave me alone while I watch 'Bicycle Thieves' for the 897th time…
