In this video, learn how to use a Bialetti Moka Express. The Bialetti Moka Express is a classic, and the typical Italian way of making coffee at home.
– Fill the lower chamber with hot water
– Put in the funnel and add coffee
– Tightly screw on the top
– Put the Bialetti Moka Express over a flame or on the burner
– Wait while the coffee brews
– remove from heat once you hear the coffee sputtering
One thing to keep in mind is depending on how fast you brew the coffee, you can make the coffee stronger or weaker. Having a higher temperature on the stove will cause a quicker extraction process making for less strong coffee. Where as, a lower temperature on the stove will have a slower extraction making stronger coffee.
The strength of your coffee also depends on the amount of coffee you put in the funnel. For really strong coffee a lot of people fill the funnel all the way to the top. Remember not to press or pack the coffee in, just let it fall into place and level off the top.
Use hot water in the lower chamber instead of cold water like some people suggested. Using hot water means less time for the coffee to be over the heat and less time for you waiting for the extraction to start.
If you use cold water, it has a higher chance of making your coffee bitter. Cold water takes time to boil and while it’s not boiling the coffee itself is heating/cooking.
Now that you know how to use a Bialetti Moka Express and make great coffee with a moka pot; you can make yourself some really amazing coffee every time.
